Millions of girls are still being forced to change the way they live their lives because of public sexual harassment, according to shocking new survey findings from Plan International UK.

Today, the Global Education Summit, co-hosted by the UK, has failed to reach its funding target of ‘at least $5bn’ (£3.67 bn), having fallen short by $1 billion (£716m).

The Government has today published statistics showing how much the UK spent on international development in 2019. Responding, Rose Caldwell, Chief Executive of Plan International UK, said:

Today (May 16), the UK Government launched its International Development Strategy outlining its vision for the future of UK international development, including aid spending. 

Campaigners calling for public sexual harassment to be made a crime have responded to reports from Government advisor Nimco Ali that members of the Government are blocking new harassment legislation. 

Period poverty in the UK shows no signs of subsiding as girls are forced to make increasingly difficult financial decisions to manage their period, according to new survey data released by international children’s charity Plan International UK ahead of Menstrual Health Day (28 May).
