PROVIDING SAFE, QUALITY EDUCATION IN CENTRAL AMERICA

With the Costa Foundation

In remote coffee-growing regions around the world, many children are still missing out on their chance to go to school – especially girls. Through our partnership with Costa Foundation to help coffee-growing communities thrive through education, we want to provide safe access to quality education for children and young people.

Since 2015, Plan International has been working with the Costa Foundation to deliver education projects in Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, with their support totalling over £1 million.

In that time, we have delivered six projects together focused on ensuring children in coffee-growing communities can learn in safe, inclusive spaces with adequate WASH facilities (water, sanitation and hygiene), and that girls are supported to stay in school.

PROGRAMME highlights

230

schools constructed or made safer

5,2000

children directly supported with safe, quality education

16,5000

families, teachers and community members engaged to support children to stay in school

and members of the local authorities are now engaged to improve education

All children and young people should have the opportunity to learn in an inclusive and safe environment. However, in remote coffee-growing regions around the world, many are still missing out on their chance to go to school – especially girls. Through our partnership with Plan International in Guatemala and Honduras, we are providing safe access to quality education and are working with communities to build brighter futures.
