Champions of Wales

We’re working with young people to end gender inequality in Wales

Champions of Wales is a girls’ rights movement, working to change perceptions and attitudes towards girls so they can live free from gender inequality.

Run in partnership by Plan International UK and four local organisations, the programme will support at least two hundred young people over three years, enabling them to build skills, confidence and an understanding of girls’ rights and gender equality.

Champions of Wales is based on our innovative global programming. It will support young people to campaign on the issues affecting them and make positive change in their communities, to ensure Wales is a place where girls are heard and feel empowered.

THE PROGRAMME

Through Champions of Wales, we’ll work with young people to:

  • Participate in workshops to build skills, confidence and understanding around gender equality.
  • Explore how and where they can champion girls’ rights locally, using digital mapping tools.
  • Amplify their ability to create change and influence local decision making via small grants, to pilot projects that champion gender equality in their communities.
