Israel's scheme and illegal blockade is a cruel system of control

In just over a week, over 100 Palestinians have reportedly been killed while simply trying to access food and basic aid for their survival, with hundreds more injured.

It is utterly deplorable that children and their families are being killed trying to access humanitarian assistance. Israel’s scheme is the opposite of a humanitarian operation – this is a cruel, inhumane system of control that violates the core principles of International Humanitarian Law.

This is just the latest horror being inflicted on children in Gaza. It follows an illegal three-month blockade of essential, life-saving supplies that has plunged Gaza into an entirely man-made hunger catastrophe, with the whole population of 2.1 million Palestinians now at critical risk of famine. 

Israel’s aid blockade is directly leading to children starving to death and is preventing thousands from accessing life-saving healthcare. An immediate end to the blockade is needed now to prevent more people being killed. This is not war – this is the deliberate weaponisation of hunger.
