Policy resources: Education
Our policy and influencing work aims to make sure that all girls and boys access their right to equitable, inclusive quality education as agreed through Sustainable Development Goal 4.
Our policy positions outline our recommendations to governments on themes from gender equality and the importance of sex education, to financing for education. Through our research and reports, we showcase learning from our programmes in over 50 countries and share evidence of what works to ensure all children can learn in safe gender-sensitive, child-friendly environments.
Some of our reports are joint reports because we work closely with the Global Campaign for Education UK and other members of civil society to influence parliamentarians and policy makers. Our research directly shares the voices of children and young people and their views on education.
Girls' Education Policy Briefing
Around the world, there are 63 million girls out of school. Less than 50 per cent of countries - and none in sub-Saharan Africa - have achieved gender parity in both primary and secondary education.
Now is the time for global leaders to take action for girls' right to education. Policies must focus on equality and on the most marginalised girls to ensure they can access a quality education. This paper sets out the challenge for girls' education, shares Plan International UK's work and puts forward recommendations to global leaders to ensure that no girl is left behind.
