Today, millions of girls will miss out on learning simply because they're on their period.

Harmful and outdated beliefs about periods are still rife. Girls can be made to feel ashamed or unclean simply for having a period.

Period products can also be difficult or too expensive to access, and many schools have no safe or private toilets.

The result? Girls are forced to stay home. Missing school month after month. And a few days can quickly become weeks of lost learning, putting their education, and futures, at risk.

Together we can help girls get the support they need to stay in the classroom and keep learning. Please donate today.

133 MILLION GIRLS ARE OUT OF SCHOOL

That's millions of girls with futures whose futures still need fighting for.

Kokila's story

Growing up in Nepal, Kokila was surrounded by the harmful belief that periods made girls and women unclean. School was forbidden when she was menstruating, costing her at least four days of learning every month.

‘I felt small as if I were inferior...It was as if I had done something wrong, but there was nothing you could do about it.’

With our support, Kokila learned that menstruation wasn't something to be ashamed of. She began leading sessions to challenge harmful myths and keep girls in school.

Today, safe toilets at five local schools give more than 2,000 girls somewhere to manage their periods.

‘It was difficult to change things but now it feels like a weight has been lifted from our shoulders. Girls can live again. They can laugh, study and make their dreams come true.’
