Thinking of you appeal
It’s been a challenging year for all of us, and no one has escaped the impact of the coronavirus crisis. But it’s also been a year when many of us have been thinking about others — from clapping for carers, to staying in to keep vulnerable friends, family and neighbours safe.
A gift from you today could help children continue with their education and learn new skills, including in places like Cameroon, a country hit by the double tragedy of coronavirus and conflict. It could help show children in vulnerable communities that you’re thinking of them. Please, will you give a gift today?

Providing access to training
Young people under 25 are at a critical stage of their lives in Cameroon. Yet millions of young men and women are not completing secondary school or able to access other training to develop the skills for work.
With the help of your gift today, our partners could work with young people to provide vocational training — from computing to hairdressing to electronics and bead making. The training allows them to develop new skills, earn a living, and look forward to a brighter and more prosperous future. With youth unemployment high in the country, it really is a lifeline.

Looking forward to a bright future
At the same time, the project runs activities and young people are encouraged to get involved. So not only are they learning new skills, they also get to have fun and interact with other children and young people in their communities.
Marina, who coaches young people in hairdressing, has seen first-hand the difference gifts like yours can make to change lives:
“I teach them to use their hands, and with the training, they will be able to earn a decent wage and buy their own food. Wherever they go after the training, they can earn a living. They will survive.”
