Israel's attacks on Gaza City will cause further preventable death and suffering

“Israel’s attacks on Gaza City signal a further brutal intensification of their relentless assault on Palestinians. With Israel having already forced people from nearly 90 per cent of Gaza, the occupation of Gaza City will mean more preventable death, more suffering, and the continued deliberate destruction of Palestinian life.

“We remind once again: forcibly displacing civilians is a profound violation of International Humanitarian Law, as is blocking humanitarian aid and intentionally targeting schools and refugee camps. Yet world leaders have clearly not done enough to stop the horror so far: Israel continues to escalate violence and is still deliberately starving civilians, leaving more and more families with no choice but to watch their children die painlessly and needlessly.

“The Prime Minister, along with all leders around the world, must use every lever available to hold Israel accountable for its constant, blatant disregard of International Humanitarian and Human Rights Law. We renew our urgent calls for the end to all UK arms sales, ammunitions and parts to Israel at once, an immediate and sustained ceasefire, and a full and sustained lift of Israel’s illegal blockade. States can and must intervene with action now to save lives before there are none left to save.”
