Are you ready to Step Up for Girls’ rights? During a month of your choice walk 10,000 steps a day, raise vital funds, and join a community that’s determined to tackle gender inequality.
All over the world, girls are undervalued, undermined and underestimated. Held back by damaging gender stereotypes, harassed in public and even sometimes married as children.
Take part in Step Up for Girls to help make a fair and equal world the reality for all girls and young women. It all starts with your next step…

Why girls?
Despite years of progress, so many girls are still being locked out of education, being denied their rights and are facing a future of violence. By challenging yourself to Step Up for Girls you are saying enough is enough, taking direct action and raising funds to create a world where:
- Education is central to every child’s life
- Every girl has the right to choose what happens to her own body
- All young people, especially girls, can determine their own future
Step up for girls like Yeimi
15-year-old Yeimi lives in El Salvador, where cases of violence against women and girls have surged and are at greater risk of facing physical, emotional and sexual abuse.
Yeimi took part in our ‘Champions of Change’ project which aims to advance gender equality through youth engagement. As part of the project, we have created safe spaces for girls to access peer networks, mentors and leadership opportunities.
Your fundraising will help support a new generation of activists, educators and future female leaders to rise up and speak out for gender equality for girls just like Yeimi.

Of course, 10,000 steps a day isn't right for everyone, and we would be thrilled if you adapted the challenge to suit you. It doesn’t matter how far you walk, run or wheel it's the taking part that counts!
