Row Like a Girl
Bella, Gee, Olivia and Lauren are four ordinary girls challenging stereotypes, breaking world records and raising money for girls worldwide.
Row Like a Girl took on one of the world’s toughest challenges, rowing 3,000 nautical miles across the Atlantic as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.
More people have travelled to space and climbed Everest then have rowed the second largest ocean in the world. In a race dominated by male teams, Row Like a Girl wanted to prove that when given the opportunity, girls and young women can achieve the incredible too.
The team faced a test of physical and mental endurance, alternating between 2 hours of sleep and rowing, battling sea sickness and tackling 40ft waves in their boat, Mrs Nelson.
After 40 gruelling days at sea, Row Like a Girl became the youngest and fastest all-woman crew to row the Atlantic unaided, finishing an impressive second of all 26 boats. They were greeted by a huge crowd, cheers and the blast of boat horns upon arrival to Antigua.
Not satisfied with rowing the Atlantic, Row Like a Girl are always looking for a new challenge. This summer, Gee, Bella and Olivia joined Team Plan for Ride London-Surrey, a 100 mile route on closed roads through the capital and surrounding countryside.
Row Like a Girl have so far raised over £25,000 to give girls worldwide the opportunity to realise their goals and we can't wait for their next challenge.
You don’t have to row the Atlantic to help change the world for girls. If you’re feeling inspired, we’d love you to join our team. Whatever you decide to do we’ll be there to support you all the way to help you reach your goals.
