Safer Cities for Girls, Nairobi

Together, Plan International and CBRE are working with young people, as well as public transport, government and the wider community, to make the city safer for girls.

The project is tackling harmful gender stereotypes and changing young people's attitudes around issues such as street harassment and gender-based violence.

An award-winning partnership

We’re delighted to announce that our partnership with CBRE won Project of the Year at the Business Charity Awards 2016 for Girls' Education Challenge, Sierra Leone.

We saw off tough competition to win this prestigious award and we're proud our great project has had the recognition it deserves.

Fundraising Success

CBRE staff across the EMEA region have pulled out all the stops when it comes to fundraising, raising money for their projects in Kenya, Sierra Leone and beyond.  Over 1,000 employees have taken part in cross-border charity challenges, raising more than £400,000 so far.

From marathons and auctions, to mountain climbs and sailing challenges, employees have joined forces and had fun finding ways to support Plan International’s work.

"Undoubtedly, this was the most unique experience I have ever had, and one of the best things I have ever been lucky enough to be part of.

"I would recommend this to all colleagues, not only because of the personal opportunity it provides, but because it creates a very real connection to the work we do as a company in fundraising and provides a real purpose.

"It can only be a positive thing for more colleagues to have this opportunity."

A partnership to be proud of

“Children face increased risks as well as increased opportunities in a rapidly urbanising world. Every month, the population of those living in cities increases by five million people, and it is estimated that by 2030, approximately 700 million girls will live in urban areas. We are proud to be extending our EMEA-wide partnership with Plan International to help support the Safer Cities programme. This forms an important part of our wider responsible business commitments.”

- Martin Samworth, CEO, CBRE in Europe, Middle East and Africa
