Financial education for girls

Aligned with Credit Suisse’s core business and its Financial Inclusion Initiative, our Financial Education for Girls program aims to ensure that:

  • Over 100,000 girls receive financial education through life skills programs.
  • Girls have increased self-confidence and agency over their future choices.
  • The agenda for educating girls is supported more strongly by families, communities and authorities at the local and national level.

Watch this video to hear from Mariana, 14, who tells us about her experience of our programme in Brazil.

TRANSFORMING FUTUREs

Sarita is 13 and wants to become a successful entrepreneur.

In 2015, Credit Suisse’s Financial Education and Life Skills (FELS) program began in her school. Club members, like Sarita, meet to discuss social issues and solutions, sustainability and business.

No one else in Saritas’ family is literate (this is common in the project region). After a trip with FELS to the local bank, Sarita accompanied her Grandfather to the bank to help him access his money.

On their return home, her grandfather would not stop praising Sarita. From now on nobody would ever have to ask another for help, he said, Sarita could teach them all.

Celebrating 10 years of partnership

Over 10 years of partnership, thanks to Credit Suisse’s support, we’ve ensured over 210,881 children have access to a better quality education. Together, we can achieve more.

Hear from Plan International and Credit Suisse’s other partners in this video about the difference a decade of commitment can make for communities all around the world.
