Your Questions Answered

What is the 80th Anniversary Appeal?

Plan International UK’s 80th Anniversary Appeal is an urgent call to action: we are asking you to give girls in Uganda the gift of a lifetime: hope and opportunity. By celebrating our 80th anniversary in this way, we hope to reach more girls than ever before in the years to come.

How will my donation be spent?

Donations to the Appeal will help to transform the lives of girls and their communities in Uganda, one of the most challenging places to grow up. You will fund activities that help keep girls in school, get young women into work, and create safe and supportive communities for girls and boys.

What impact will I make?

By supporting our 80th Anniversary Appeal you will help us to end the cycle of poverty of children and their families in Uganda. An educated girl is less likely to marry or have children whilst she is still a child, more likely to be healthy and more likely to reinvest her income into her family and community. You will be directly involved in changing the story for children and we will share our achievements with you at the end of the Appeal.

Ariel lost both her parents before she finished primary school. With no one to pay her school fees, she couldn’t attend school for two years. Then Ariel heard about Plan International’s work to support girls’ education, and she is being supported to complete her education.

”Because of Plan my fees are paid, and we are given books, pens and sanitary pads,” she says. “I thank Plan for supporting me. Otherwise I would just be a girl in the village, wasted. I’ve learnt not to lose hope. I want to be a teacher, and politician to provide leadership in my community.”
