Memory's story

Memory's story

In 2014, Plan International began to work with youth campaigners in Malawi to get child marriage banned. We launched a petition, asking people around the world to stand with the young activists in

their campaign to close the loophole in the constitution. More than 42,000 people from around the world stood with young campaigners and on 14 February 2017 the news came that we’d all been waiting for: the

constitution had changed and child marriage was finally banned in Malawi. It was a momentous day for everyone involved. Thank you to our supporters who stood with Memory and the youth campaigners to make this possible.
