We can help girls like Yollanda thanks to your fundraising efforts — “The lockdown has affected me because I am no longer going to school, where I was learning how to read and write,” says 12-year-old Yollanda, who lives in Harare, Zimbabwe.

How your support is helping girls

Before the coronavirus crisis, Yollanda had been accepted on to one of our accelerated learning programmes, having never been able to go to school before. But when coronavirus started to spread, the learning centres were closed.

We adapted the programme to prevent children falling behind, by training our community educators to support the girls through phone calls and messages, as well as sharing prevention information about the virus.

Thanks to your incredible fundraising efforts we can continue to help girls like Yollanda to fulfil their potential.
