Goals for peace
Plan International Brazil’s Goals for Peace project teaches the new generation of boys to stand up against gender inequality and to say no to machisimo: “Regardless of colour, race, gender or religion, we are one,” says Clibson, 15.
Clibson has been attending the Plan International Project for a while now and can see why it’s important to respect girls, “after all, half of our population is made up of females.”
His friend, Taniel says he’s seen women being beaten and that girls are being killed on a daily basis in his community, “I want to make girls and women realise they don’t deserve to be beaten. Together we can fight for their rights.”
Luciano, 19 adds “children need to start learning why violence must not be tolerated from a young age. This can be done through social projects, discussions and education.”
“Plan International’s projects have really influenced my path in life. When they first introduced the Girls’ Football Project, I volunteered as coach. I’m now involved in the Goals for Peace project, where I learn about youth rights.”
