Give us your best shot for International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day is coming up on 8 March, and this year, we’re celebrating women and girls in sport with our partner Chelsea Football Club. We want to show whatever boys can do, girls can do too.
We have teamed up with Chelsea to work together to transform the lives of thousands of children through the reach and power of football. A big part of our partnership is promoting equality between boys and girls, men and women in support of Plan’s global Because I am a Girl campaign.
In Colombia, we’re working together to teach young men and women about equality, respect and tolerance, and combatting stereotypes about what boys and girls can do.
Plan International uses football across the world to help girls feel confident and have their say in their community. Projects like these are proven to help them stay longer in school and not marry too young.
To mark International Women’s Day, we’re giving aspiring female footballers of all ages, the chance to win a signed Chelsea Ladies’ shirt and a personalised video message from the squad.
To win, all you need to do is show us your football skills (or showcase any female friend or relative). Head over to @Plan_UK on Instagram and upload a short clip demonstrating your skills using the hashtag #becauseiamagirl. To give you some inspiration, the Chelsea ladies have already shown their stuff.....
The winning entry will be chosen by the Chelsea women’s team, and the deadline is International Women’s Day, 8 March.
We are looking for a host of talent, so whether you play every week or even if you’ve never played before, give us your best shot!
