Empowered girls across Latin America

Empowered girls across Latin America

Plan International in the Americas held its fifth Because I am a Girl photo contest and exhibition. Professional and amateur photographers, as well as children, across the region took part in the competition. The theme was girls’ empowerment.

Every day, girls are discriminated against just for being girls. One in five adolescent girls around the world is denied their right to an education by the daily realities of poverty, conflict and discrimination. By empowering girls and investing in them to fulfill their potential, we are fighting poverty for everyone, not just the girls themselves.

We’ve put together a few of the best entries for you to enjoy. Take a look at what empowerment means to girls.
